You clean your bakeshop. When’s the last time you cleaned your online presence?
You already know how much a clean space matters. The same is true for how your bakery shows up online, and that’s what customers see first.
With Easter over, there’s a small window before Teacher’s Appreciation, Mother’s Day, and grad party orders start picking up.
This is the perfect time for a quick reset.
Not a full marketing overhaul. Just a focused 2-hour cleanup that helps more customers find you, trust you, and order from you.
One important note before we start:
This isn’t about doing everything perfectly once.
The bakeries that get found consistently are the ones that keep their information clear and updated over time.
With that in mind, here’s your checklist:
Refresh your listings (Google + Yelp)
If your information is outdated, you’re losing orders. It’s that simple.
Take 30–45 minutes and check:
Hours (especially for upcoming holidays)
Phone number
Website link
Menu (update seasonal specials, pricing, descriptions)
Recent photos of your case, catering, and custom work
For Google specifically, make sure your primary category reflects what you want to be known for (bakery, cake shop, coffee shop, etc.).
Why this matters:
When someone searches “best bakery near me” or seasonal terms like “graduation cake” or “Mother’s Day dessert",” Google decides who gets shown. And based on the shortlist, customers decide in seconds.
If your information isn’t accurate, you may not show up. If your profile isn’t clear, customers move on.
Update or create your FAQ page
This is one of the most overlooked tools on a bakery website.
And right now, it matters more than ever.
Customers (and Google) are scanning your site for clear answers like:
Do you take custom orders?
How can I order ahead?
Do you offer gluten-free or vegan options?
Is there free WiFi?
Even if someone never clicks on your website, Google is still pulling answers from it.
Those answers can show up directly in AI-powered search results or in the “Know Before You Go” section on your Google Business Profile.
Why this matters:
A strong FAQ page helps you show up when it matters and reduces repetitive questions. If your information isn’t clear and easy to find, Google has nothing to pull from—and customers move on to a bakery that made it easier.
Clean up your Instagram highlights
Most bakery owners treat highlights like storage. They’re really more like navigation.
When someone lands on your profile, your highlights should quickly answer:
What and how can I order?
What do you specialize in?
What do locals say about you?
Take 30 minutes and:
Remove outdated or duplicate highlights
Rename them clearly (ex: “Custom Cakes,” “Weddings,” “Order Info,” “Customer Love”, “FAQ”)
Update covers so they look clean and consistent
Why this matters:
Most people aren’t coming to Instagram ready to order, they’re scrolling for entertainment. But when someone does land on your profile, that’s an opportunity to stay top-of-mind. Your highlights help answer core questions quickly. If it’s clear, they’re more likely to follow, engage, or remember your name when the next craving hits.
Ask for 3-5 fresh reviews
After Easter, you likely had a lot of happy (er, hoppy) customers.
Now is the time to capture that.
Spend 15 minutes following up:
Text or email a few great customers
Ask them to leave a Google review
Encourage them to mention what they ordered along with photos
Why this matters:
Reviews build trust, but they also help Google understand what you’re known for.
What this adds up to
In just 2 hours, you can:
Make it easier for customers to find you
Reduce repetitive questions
Increase the chances that someone actually places an order
All you’re doing is providing cleaner, clearer information in the places people are already looking.
